Deicing of the wings should begin at the leading edge wingtip because this area is most susceptible to ice and snow accumulation, which can severely affect the aerodynamic properties of the wing. Starting at the wingtip allows the deicing fluid to flow down the leading edge toward the root of the wing, ensuring that any ice present is effectively removed as the process progresses. This flow helps to prevent ice from forming in other areas of the wing as melting occurs.

In contrast, beginning at the trailing edge or the wing root may not be as effective since ice is most likely to form at the leading edge due to airflow characteristics. Starting at the center of the wing also does not take full advantage of gravity and the natural flow of the deicing fluid, which works better when it starts from the most stressed points on the wing.
